About Scoriton Show
69 years and counting... Soon to be 70!!!
Scoriton Country Show & Sports is a traditional country event organised by a small committee of volunteers, with an army of other helpers from local parishes. This year it has been going for 70 years!
On the day, there is something for everyone (young and not so young)!
A large, colourful marquee displays prize-winning local grown produce – fruit and vegetables – stunning specimen flowers and flower arrangements, as well as home baking and jam making. In addition, there are adult and children’s crafts on display. All these things are judged by local experts and the prizes and cups are given to the best entries. There is fierce competition!
Also in the marquee, you can buy locally prepared food and drink, and there are places to sit and chat and catch up with friends old and new.
Outside, on the show field there are games to play and many stalls of interest run by local businesses and community groups. A band plays and people dance if they are feeling brave. For the truly adventurous and competitive there is an afternoon of sports for all ages, culminating in the famous egg tossing, as well a cross country run through the spectacular local landscape.
For the those who just can’t stop at an afternoon of fun, in the evening there is bale tossing (a Devon special – and not for the faint hearted), a hog roast, and a traditional Ceilidh for all ages, where you can dance with music (and instructions) by local band Banned from the Moor until late.
